should it hold within itself,
or finally release
open up to all that has gone before and within
spell out everything that has been drawn in.

through the extended
maze
the hive of roots and tendrils that snake out and intercept every stray thought
every stray idea and nugget
flinging into
and past
unfurl it all upon its own growth, taken in and exposed.

all and every
used
and recycled.

each interception
an interaction resulting in change
in.perceptible movement forward
until fully laden
each branch upon the other in proud display of all that it has taken in
each branch a reflection of its environment
each branch muddy with the world
each branch holding on.

to him
him who can cleanse and heal
that which the world is dying from.
that which the world has taken in
in
to their hearts.

displayed through their sleeves
through their pasted smiles
their insipid handshakes and courteous words.

and so each branch muddy with the world
each branch holds on

to Him.

what is the word hello
but the first goodbye
yours or theirs
it matters not
the end will alway come

the longer the hello
the harder the goodbye
for all the talk
will one day cease
and youll be left alone

what was once.joy
in now.a tear

what was once.a tinkle in the eye
is now.an overcast memory.
i saw your face today
in the crowd

a glimpse
as i turned my head
just your smile
turned away
my mind
faster then my feet
searching to find
the physical emotional
but you have left
filtered from my touch
gone
with the wind and the song

i saw your face today.
.in my mind
a word
can mean
many things

between friends
a multitude of memories
between enemies
the opposite
between strangers
nothing

within love
a thousand more
within writing
the readers imagination
within the word
truth

from a child
a fathers joy
from a mother
the greatest encouragement
from God
creation

But
after saying goodbye
nothing...
but itself
and
sorrow.
lying down.
si,ply restin..
re-laxing.
wanting n o thinng .but to let
droop.sigh.breath oout.
the world.
(nothing)
could faalll or r.i.se and
(me)
I wouuld stay in peace.
he left.

just one day.
he left.

there was no goodbye.
no hug. no consolation.

no words. no remembrance.
but me.

left.

here. where once we
were two.

two friends.

brothers to a time.
brothers of a place.

a place.
i still remember.

see joy.
through tears.

and laughter.
resounding in silence.

that is all.

all that is left.
of him.

the silence.
the tears.

the akward pauses.
the unspoken jokes.

the loneliness
within my memories.

are gaps now.

pieces of my day.
missing.

swallowed up.

leaving tattered patchwork.
to reknit.

attempting to rebuild

my life.

and erase.
the jagged scar.

of death.

a lighthouse
small.far.
a lighthouse
one flash
as slowly it turns.
a lighthouse
one flash
and then it moves on.

In a world of emotion
In a swirl of devotion
In the pass of a shadow
Across thy sweet face

In the twirl of a feather
In the sigh of a leaf
In the flight of a sparrow
As it returns to its nest

In the heart of a raindrop
In the soul of the stars
In the arms of the windswept
And times last embrace

In the muse of the sunset
In the call of the dawn
In the form of the rainbow
As the skies are swept clean

In the moon of the evening
In the bright light of
noon
In the friend of thy brother
A word on the move

In the silence in sorrow
In the tears found in grief
In the cry of the newborn
As it calls for its home

In the play of the trumpet
In the mourn of the flute
In the laugh of the joyful
And the face of all pain

In the sound of the sonnet
In the word and the will
In the face of your sadness
Love. touches me still.

two storeys
word.paper.a mass of flesh
crowding the stairs of work
up and down they float
to and fro till
the train
they sleep.

It’s a shadow
Two
It’s a shadow
Love.

For five cents and six cents
Dinner
For eight and for nine
Rent

It’s a shadow
Child
It’s a shadow
Smile.

For end upon end
Pleas
For tale upon tale
Steps

Its my shadow
There
Its your shadow
Two.

mississippi

blue and turquoise.

i watch it through the crack in my curtain
the wind

slowly
ever slowly

moving the leaves in a synchronous dance

tomorrow i will be hale again
i will wake up and rise again
i will wash my face again
i will smile and talk again

its like watercolour

the soft constant strokes
of the wind

as it pulls its branch brush
across

softening and deepening

the skies evening.

loneliness
when two men born in the same room do not know eash others names.
loneliness
when two men running the same race do not encourage each other.
loneliness
when two men who once clasped hands now spare not a glance.
loneliness
when two men live within five feet and yet share not a word.
loneliness
when two brothers do not embrace.
the phone it rings
silently, slowly.
a constant into emptiness

the answerphone it listens
slowly, silently
an emptiness being constant.

where are you?

the lights are out. the sun has set.
yet still i sit here craddling.
this cord leading to emptiness

the streets are quiet and their people.
yet within my craddle i sit
as emptiness wraps its cord around me.

are you there?

shadows move around me
the wind it plays my mind
will you haunt me in my dreams?

i close my eyes against the night
and through my mind still moves the wind
my dreams are surely haunted.

please tell me where you are.
stood beneath a paper tree
and watched the wind go by
two hours sitting
two hours standing
two hours listening
stood beneath a paper tree
and watched the wind go by.

to be a man. i must.
stand strong. and be.
a hold you in my arms protected

to be a man. i must.
walk forward. in hope.
unraveling the future before me

to be a man. i must.
do what is. is right.
and keep the world as it is

to be a man. i must.
forget myself. old fears.
for all is older and wiser then i

to be a man. i must.
ask you too. hold me.
as i let my tears flow freely

to be a man. i must.
if circumstances
had procured me
if circumstances
had shown me
a different set of eyes.

if circumstances
had asked me
if circumstances
showed answers to
a different set of questions

if circumstances
had given me
if circumstances
had made me
a different word to counsel

so circumstances
it seems dictates
that circumstances
be thanked.
given circumstances

have you ever seen the wind
gently rest a leaf
have you ever felt the wind
softly brush your cheek
have you ever heard the wind
whisper in your ear

then youve also seen it fling
the rock to which you cling
youve also felt it cut
and steal away your heart
youve also heard it howl
in madness and despair

it is summer

the breeze is slow
lifting hair in exploration and relaxing
falling back to music of entwined eyes

there are no tall buildings, just wide skies.

it is summer

all floweres are open.
the vines are green growing over the trellis
red clay and moist sweet ground

what made the moon so round?

it is summer
inside crowned in dust outside
in green

travelled the ocean and back
my mind

travelled the ocean and back
searching life

travelled the ocean and back
fearing truth

travelled the ocean and back
to depravity

travelled the ocean and back
back home

travelled the ocean and back
to God

inside crowned in white outside
in red
